I’ve been wanting to see Thailand since my birthday in 2013 and 2014. The latter year a Martial Law was declared which definitely made me hesitant to go, the former if I can recall it correctly, it has been raining it caused flood in most places that I wish to visit. Wow! Thailand and the ill-fated Zee!
And so came – 2016, with the seat sale promo of Cebu Pacific Air, I booked a round-trip ticket from Manila to Bangkok.
Now, a promise made to myself finally happened.
We arrived Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 8:50 AM, Bangkok Local time which is an hour behind Manila. But our destination was still hours away from Bangkok. We transferred to Don Mueang International Airport because we need to catch our 12:50 PM flight to Chiang Mai.
How to go to Don Mueang Int’l Airport from Suvarnabhumi Int’l Airport?
Head to Airport Passenger Terminal at the 2nd floor, exit at gate 3 and take the bus. It’s Free! You just need to show your flight details. It will take about 50 minutes to 1 hour travel but of course depends on traffic.
You can check their airport website for the bus departure timing.
We arrived Chiang Mai International Airport past 2pm, from there we took took a taxi to take us to Arcade Bus Station because we were headed to the gorgeous province of Pai. The taxi fare cost 200 THB or estimated 264 PHP.
Several bus departs from the terminal to get you to Pai, you can check their website to know the departure time. We chose the mini bus scheduled to depart at 4:30 PM.
Chiang Mai to Pai mini bus fare cost 150 THB, and an estimated travel time of about 3 hours again depending on traffic.
We arrived the town around 8pm, yes it was late. It was a day full of transfers with 2 plane rides, a taxi, bus and a mini bus. I heard you, yes that was tiring.
And across the station, we were greeted by something I’ve been looking forward to. A Mango Sticky Rice stall
We indulged into this mouthwatering dessert because after that long hours of travel, definitely we deserved that.
When I was checking for accommodations in Pai during the planning period, this caught 80% of my attention. The picture didn’t lie at all. We stayed in this cute mini huts of Countryside Pai.
I was aiming for the provincial feel of Pai and this resort was a perfect choice. The way the crickets sound at night, the cold wind made the non-air conditioned room very comfortable.
The services were fantastic as well. The location of the resort is quite far from the town proper but nothing to worry, they offer free transfers you just need to arrange that at the reception. How convenient huh?
In addition to being a cozy and a very relaxing place to stay, the resort offers very reasonable price for standard room at 1,200 php, for 2 nights shared by 2, so that was 600 php each. So worth it!
So grab your backpacks and head your way into this gorgeous countryside! Spend time with nature!
